Don’t worry guys, getting rid of your unwanted hair will be easier that you can imagine. Below are a few tips and reminders when getting ready for your waxing or laser appointments.
Men Waxing Tips
- Don’t shave for at least two weeks prior to your appointment. We need the body hair you want removed to be long enough for the wax to adhere.
- Work out and shower before you come in to get your wax. Waxing can make the skin sensitive, so waiting a day or so after waxing to work out again can help keep the skin vibrant and lovely.
- Schedule your next appointment as you check out for 4 weeks out from your wax. We need to hair to be long enough to remove efficiently and staying on a regular schedule helps you stay smooth.
- Skip the tanning bed for the day. It’s recommend that you skip tanning the day you are waxed. The tanning bed tends to make your skin more sensitive before the wax and can cause irritation afterward.
- Please refrain from using any lotions on the skin prior to coming in for your wax. Lotion changes the consistency of our wax on your skin and makes it a bit harder for us to remove all the hairs.
Men Laser Hair Removal Tips
- Shave the area you want permanent hair removal prior to your consultation. Shaving helps the laser identify the hair follicle. Be sure to use a clean, new razor to shave. Used razors could contain bacteria that may result in an allergic reaction after the laser treatment. Once you are in the treatment room, your Laser Technician and Master Esthetician will explain everything to you about the laser and what to expect during the treatments. A photo of the area will be taken. Our Medical Director, Dr. Redman, will review and sign-off on all our laser settings, as well as, the progression of each client’s treatment and any changes made. Below is a before and after picture.
- It is important for you to avoid waxing for six weeks before your first laser session. This is also the case with the use of tweezers. The laser needs to be able to identify the hair follicle. During this time period, shaving is acceptable. If you are prone to nervousness, you should avoid caffeine for 24 hours before your session. You must shave within 24 hours of your appointment. By shaving, the lasers will be able to locate the follicles. And remember to use a clean, new razor. New razors ensure there is no lingering bacteria that could cause contact dermatitis after your laser treatment. (Contact dermatitis is a delayed type of allergic reaction of the skin resulting from skin contact with a specific allergen.)Should you miss any hairs while you were shaving, your Glow technician will either need to avoid doing laser on those areas, reschedule the session to another time, or you will be given the opportunity to have your laser Technician shave the missed hairs for a fee of $10.00.
*Note: This $10 charge is for any accidentally missed hairs. Clients must come in clean shaven to the appointment. Should a one-off incident require the Laser Technicians to shave the entire area from start to finish, the price of this additional service being provided will range anywhere between $20.00 to $50.00 as determined by your Laser Technician.
The time slot reserved for you only allows for enough time to do your laser session, so should you need to be shaved in advance prior to the treatment, please make sure you let our Front Desk Coordinators know while booking the appointment so they can set the correct amount of time aside for you.
- Avoid unprotected sun exposure before and two weeks after your laser treatment. If you have to go out into the sun, apply sunscreen with Zinc, 20 SPF, or higher. You MUST stay out of the sun before beginning laser, too. Any tanning of the skin can result in pigmentation in the areas you laser.
- Shave to remove hair – don’t wax or tweeze. While receiving laser treatments, please shave to remove remaining hair in between laser sessions. Clients obtaining laser hair removal treatments need to refrain from waxing and/or tweezing as a hair removal option.
